Dave Blass, grew up in Ashland, Massachusetts, and received his degree from Emerson College in Boston.  Upon arriving in Los Angles he followed in the footsteps of many who had come before, working at Roger Corman’s shop in Venice, learning how to design on a dime, and create a multitude of sets in every style and form.  After some 20 films, he made his first  foray into Television with the chance to production design the high concept comic book style Sci-Fi channel superhero series “The Black Scorpion”.  Mad scientists labs, evil villains lairs, and crazy contraptions were weekly design challenges on this unique show.  From there he moved into the reality game show world with a wide variety of programs. From the ADG Award Nominated “Unanimous” to NBC’s hit “The Biggest Loser”, “Beauty and the Geek” , “Shear Genius”, and “Trivial Pursuit” and a dozen others.   The children’s film “Labou” signaled his return to scripted work, which was quickly followed by Designing episodes of “Cold Case” and other network series.  Blass was brought in to create the pre-vis sequence for the final shot of the series for “ ER”, which lead to him being brought on to Production Design the series “Justified” for the FX network which he was nominated for a Prime Time Emmy.
