USC Cinematic Arts

Steve Anderson is Associate Professor and Director of the Transient Media Lab at USC's School of Cinematic Arts. He is co-editor of the interdisciplinary electronic journal Vectors and the founder of Critical Commons, a fair use advocacy site and public media archive.

He is the author of Technologies of History: Visual Media and the Eccentricity of the Past (Dartmouth 2011) and is currently working on a transmedia investigation titled Technologies of Cinema, comprising a book, media archive and long-form video essay, examining the historical interrelationship of data and images. He has a PhD in Film, Literature and Culture from USC and an MFA in Film and Video from CalArts.
