Alejandra began her art studies in 1998 at the Institut Privé de Philosophie et Théologie Saint Jean in Saint Jodard, France. In 2007 she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts at the Autonomous University of Baja California. She was awarded the XVIII Biennial of Baja California.
Since 2001 Phelts has used a varied practice of installation, photography, painting and drawing to explore the relationship between art, life and memory.
Phelts' work has been shown in more than 40 exhibitions in Mexico, Europe, United States and China. featuring her participation in:
The "Artist Series"of the Center for U.S.-Mexico Studies of the University of California in San Diego (UCSD) United States. The MRAF 2012 Art Basel Week Miami, FL; Abstracción 13 Museum Felguerez of Zacatecas Mexico, Salon d’Art Mónaco 2013, Fashion & Art 2015 Museum Soumaya, “Lighted Portraits” Sebastian Foundation Gallery and a permanent place in the collection of the Mexican General Consulate in Shanghai, China.
Alejandra's work is complemented by her volunteering in orphanages of Tijuana, since 2007. She creates and teaches the program "Art feeds" based on art education and art therapy.
Alejandra develops her interdisciplinary projects in her studio in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.
