USC Cinematic Arts

Francesca was born and raised in Venice, Italy.

She started her studies in fine art at the age of 14 at the Academy of Arts, followed by a degree in Architecture in Theatre Design, which established her passion for narrative media.

Eager to learn and embrace a more innovative approach to storytelling, Francesca decided to move to London in 2005, where she extended her studies at Central Saint Martins gaining her second degree in Design for Performance.

After a year of collaborative projects working on operas and plays, Francesca’s career transitioned into film: a random encounter with a duo - an up and coming director and a cinematographer - and a last minute collaboration for a music video, initiated her into the world of film.

Since 2010 Francesca has designed several music videos for acclaimed international artists and designed commercials for clients such as Ford, Microsoft and Red Bull.

Her short film Drone Strike won the Jury Award Best Short at the Beverly Hills Film Festival, the Jury Award Best Short at the Rhode Island International Film Festival, the Accolade Award of Merit and screened at several more festivals including the Miami Film Festival, the Bahamas International Film Festival and the New Filmmaker LA.

In 2014 she earned her first credit as Production Designer for a feature film with Spaceship, directed by Alex Taylor and funded by the BFI, BBC Films and Creative England.

Francesca’s key interest is in Narrative Design and Transmedia which makes her an enthusiastic supporter of the World Building Institute.
