DreamWorks Animation’s current and upcoming releases, Kung Fu Panda, and Monsters vs. Aliens, are examples of the challenges facing animation filmmakers in the design and execution of appealing, engaging and functional CG characters within the creatively and technically complex CG animation pipeline.
Leading artists on each of these films will deconstruct the process of designing and executing the principal and subsidiary characters for these two very different projects. They will reveal how they maintained the integrity of their concept designs through modeling, rigging, animation and final stages of the production workflow, and offer insights into the future evolution of the character design process.
