USC Cinematic Arts

Alex McDowell, co-founder of 5D Institute, and creative director at 5D | GlobalStudio, will be appearing at RioMarket's Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival, October 7th, at the Armazém da Utopia (Armazém 6 – Av. Rodrigues Alves, s/n – Centro, Rio de Janeiro – RJ).

RIOMARKET
RioMarket is the largest audiovisual market in Latin America and this year will host seminars and workshops with personalities from all continents.

RioSeminars promotes debates and presentations about the most relevant themes of the audiovisual industry, informing the audience about new tendencies and technologies.

Alex McDowell will be presenting and conducting a masterclass with fellow 5D collaborator, Tod Machover.

Alex McDowell will explore the dynamic potential of the world building process to craft tangible story worlds through an immersive, transdisciplinary design system, with potential impact across diverse sectors of 21st century culture. Tod Machover, celebrated composer and inventor (from hyperinstruments for Yo-Yo Ma to Guitar Hero) and a founding professor at the MIT Media Lab, will describe new forms of musical performance in which all senses are engaged and distributed locations are interconnected, as well as vast symphonies created for - and by - citizens of cities around the world.
